SCMP Updates
At the Foreign Correspondents’ Club Journalism Conference late last month, SCMP CEO Gary Liu spoke to an audience of journalists on changing consumer behaviour and the way forward for the news industry. In keeping with the conference’s focus on news coverage in the era of digital disruption, Gary advocated for the proper distinction between news and opinion, and he pointed to instant messaging as one platform that will play an important role in the future media landscape. In another occasion, Gary kept up his public momentum with a fireside chat for a group of students and aspiring entrepreneurs. At the inaugural “Leaders of Hong Kong Series” organised by the non-profit Support! International Foundation, Gary shared lessons from his career and offered his insights and encouragement to young professionals finding their way in the digital business world.
