HKFI celebrates 30th anniversary with Symposium and Gala Dinner

Twin events gathered insurance industry experts to explore emerging “Belt and Road Initiative” opportunities and recognise Lifetime Achievements

On August 28, 2018, The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) held dual milestone events at The InterContinental Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui, namely its HKFI 30 Symposium and HKFI 30 Gala Dinner cum Award Presentation.

The HKFI 30 Symposium celebrated the 30th anniversary of HKFI and served as a platform to explore emerging opportunities for the insurance industry within the context of China’s “Belt and Road Initiative”, inviting speakers such as the HKSAR’s Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, and other esteemed experts, to share their insights and discuss leveraging Hong Kong’s advantages to meet China’s needs.

Carrie Lam, the HKSAR’s Chief Executive, served as officiating guest at the Gala Dinner, which was held in conjunction with the Award Presentation for the Hong Kong Insurance Awards 2018 (Special Edition), including Lifetime Achievement Awards. Award winners, notable judges, senior government officials, industry leaders and top executives celebrated at the Gala Dinner.

Following the highly successful event management of its 2017 insurance awards event, the HKFI again sought the help of SCMP Marketing Solutions to handle both these 2018 headliner events.

The SCMP team successfully delivered this challenging project comprising two major events within the same day, handling a diverse range of tasks including proposing strategy, concept and content (such as recommending the Belt and Road be the symposium topic, and using a contemporary hi-tech theme to represent the HKFI’s milestones over three decades).

The SCMP team also liaised with various government offices, including for logistics and security, to successfully invite the Chief Executive and Financial Secretary to the events.

To drive awareness and attendance for the events, the SCMP team deployed a range of promotion materials including eDM, e-banners on ​scmp.com​, print ad, and advertorial in the South China Morning Post.

All in all, the SCMP team’s efforts attracted more than 170 delegates to the HKFI 30 Symposium, and in excess of 470 guests at the HKFI 30 Gala Dinner cum Lifetime Achievement Award Presentation.
