SCMP’s dedicated branded content design team creates visually compelling narrative of technology innovations featured at Asia’s biggest cloud computing and AI event

A video campaign – created by Morning Studio, South China Morning Post’s dedicated branded content design team – focusing on Alibaba Cloud’s APSARA Conference 2019 in September has been viewed almost 1.2 million times.

Asia’s biggest cloud computing and artificial intelligence conference, which was held in Hangzhou, China, saw more than 75,000 technology innovators from 81 countries and regions showcasing their work and ideas at summits, seminars, demonstrations and exhibitions.

The event was organised by Alibaba Cloud, a Chinese cloud computing service company and subsidiary of Alibaba Group, the Chinese multinational e-commerce, retail, internet and technology conglomerate which owns SCMP.

As creative content partner of the conference, Morning Studio’s team took on the challenge of condensing the highlights of the three-day event into a three-minute video.

The video’s host, Malcom Ong, the SCMP’s senior vice-president (product), adopted an intelligent, authoritative yet fun tone during his presentation, which appealed to tech-curious audiences in Asia.

Featuring carefully selected visuals of some of the thousands of technology exhibits on show, Ong provided a fascinating narrative about how technology is opening up endless possibilities in our everyday life.

The video campaign was cross-posted on the SCMP website and also distributed on SCMP News Facebook, SCMP Lifestyle Facebook and SCMP News Instagram.

The SCMP News and Lifestyle Facebook pages helped to  generate almost 1.2 million views of the video, as well as more than 18,000 reactions and over 1,200 shares.

Alibaba Cloud was impressed with the results of the video campaign.

Sharon Song, the company’s global marketing manager, praised the Morning Studio team’s ability to combine the SCMP’s more than 100 years of expert storytelling with multimedia technology to create engaging content across its various platforms.
