Successful start-up entrepreneur Malcolm Ong has joined the SCMP as Head of Product to spearhead the development of new products and platforms that will demonstrate the media group’s commitment to editorial and digital excellence. Malcolm arrives from online ride-sharing platform, Lyft, which operates in over 550 cities in the United States. At Lyft, he led an array of product initiatives from new channel development and its first progressive web app to partnerships with Fortune 500 corporations. Welcoming Malcolm, SCMP CEO Gary Liu said “I believe Malcolm’s expertise, innovative vision and entrepreneurial spirit will be crucial to SCMP’s mission to lead the global conversation about China.” In turn, Malcolm said he was excited to contribute to the SCMP’s transformation into a world-class digital media company.
