SCMP’s brand marketing design studio managed presentation ceremony at signature event honouring excellence in Hong Kong’s insurance industry

More than 450 industry professionals attended the lavish presentation ceremony at this year’s Hong Kong Insurance Awards 2019, which was co-organised for the third successive year by South China Morning Post.

The signature event – managed from start to finish by Morning Studio, SCMP’s brand marketing design studio – has been held since 2014 and recognises and honours professionalism, competence and excellence in the insurance industry across 17 different categories.

The award winners at the ceremony, held at the InterContinental Hong Kong on October 24, were chosen by a panel of judges, from a shortlist of three finalists in each category, out of more than 120 original entries.

The panel featured leaders from business, media and politics, including Bernard Chan, convenor of the Non-official Members of Hong Kong’s Executive Council, Dr Stella Kwan, Cyberport’s chief corporate development officer, Ricky Chu, chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission and Ir Allen Yeung, chairman of the Institute of Big Data Governance.

They were joined on the panel by Elsie Cheung, SCMP’s chief operating officer, and Karrie Lam, the company’s vice-president of sales and marketing solutions.

Cheung joined Praveen Daswani, chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI), in giving welcoming remarks at the ceremony and presenting awards to two winners.

She and Daswani were on stage to toast the participants, accompanied by Legislative Council member Chan Kin-por, Dr Moses Cheng, chairman of Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority, Carol Hui, acting chief executive officer of the authority, and members of the HKFI's governing committee.

The Morning Studio team were able to deliver a high-quality experience within a short space of time.

Members of the team helped to develop the design concept for the award trophies, invited industry influencers to the ceremony and also helped set up the judging panel.

They also produced more than 35 visually stunning videos and a suite of engaging marketing collateral, including premium booklets, print adverts and advertorials, as well as eDMs and e-banners.

Morning Studio also used its event management expertise to help launch two new award categories this year.

Supported by Hong Kong’s Equal Opportunities Commission, the Outstanding Equal Opportunity Employers Award rewarded commitment to providing a fair and equitable workplace.

The Excellence in Digital Transformation Award, backed by Cyberport, honoured innovation in applied digital transformation, which includes areas such as insurance technology, mobile applications and artificial intelligence.
