Morning Studio Wins Three Awards at the Spark Awards for Media Excellence 2019
Morning Studio, South China Morning Post (SCMP)’s dedicated creative house for marketers, took home a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze award at the Spark Awards for Media Excellence 2019, which were announced on Friday, August 9, 2019.
The Spark Awards honour Asia’s finest media solutions providers, celebrating innovation and impact in the industry by selecting winners across 31 categories, including Best Promotion Strategy, Best Audience Acquisition Strategy, Best Engagement Strategy, and more.
This year – the sixth year of the Spark Awards – the entries were judged by a panel of 15 judges, all of whom are industry experts who run marketing and communications for leading Hong Kong and international brands.
The 2019 awards saw SCMP’s Morning Studio make the cut as a finalist in five categories: Best Launch/Rebranding, Best Promotion Strategy, Best Original Content, Best Use of Branded Content, Best Media Campaign – Integrated Media.
Morning Studio was up against hot competition from the likes of Apple Daily Digital, PCCW Media’s Viu, Yahoo and Sky Post.
Morning Studio won the Gold prize in the Best Launch/Relaunch category for its launch campaign, ‘Good Morning, Hong Kong’. The campaign demonstrated the endless possibilities on offer in Asia as the region wakes up each day.
SCMP was one of the first in Hong Kong to provide marketers with integrated solutions with its Marketing Solutions division, which it launched in 2009. Morning Studio is the next evolution in this journey, using SCMP’s 115-year expertise in storytelling to deliver original and engaging stories across multiple media platforms.
To mark this entry into a new era, SCMP launched Morning Studio with a multimedia campaign that ran online and offline. As a result, the studio received Silver prize in the Spark Awards’ Best Promotion Strategy category, and the Bronze prize in the Best Original Content category.
As part of its efforts to promote the launch of Morning Studio, the team hosted a two-day offline pop-up event, attended by 480 guests. This aspect of the campaign resulted in 300 posts of user-generated content and 55,000 engagements.
The pop-up was tied to a four-part, original story series that demonstrated Morning Studio’s capabilities across a variety of media channels. The series featured video content that received more than 648,000 views, reaching more than 786,000 viewers. Explore Morning Studio’s launch series, called “Good Morning, Hong Kong”.
In addition to receiving three awards, Morning Studio was shortlisted for other branded projects: Building Connections, Local Vision / 48 Hours in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Tourism Board, plus Flying High, Linking Lives for Qantas.
These awards and shortlistings are recognition of Morning Studio’s unparalleled ability to deliver strategic, integrated and on-brand multimedia campaigns that resonate with readers and that raise audience awareness.
