South China Morning Post (SCMP) is celebrating success after claiming four leading prizes and an honorable mention at the 2021 INMA Global Media Awards 2021.

The annual competition, organised by the International News Media Association, rewards outstanding new innovation and best practices at news brands that help grow audiences, brand recognition and revenues by optimising the use of media platforms, subscriptions, business development, and data and insights.

This year’s event, which attracted 644 entries from 212 news media brands in 37 countries, saw SCMP’s data team win first prize in the “Best Data Dashboard” category. The “C3PO Dashboard” fosters cross-department collaboration by centralising insights, easing data adoption and enabling greater reactivity. Further details about the C3PO Dashboard can be found here.

The company’s Audience Growth team claimed second place in the “Best Use of Data to Automate or Personalise” category with the “SCMP’s Audience Contact Strategy”. This lifecycle marketing approach uses reader-centric communications that enhance personalisation throughout the news consumption journey to enrich engagement and build greater loyalty towards SCMP’s editorial products.

SCMP Signal, the company’s publisher-built brand suitability tool, which ensures the brand safety of all marketing campaigns and helps to identify content that will drive performance and reach, won second place in the “Best Use of Data to Drive Advertising” category. SCMP’s artificial-intelligence-based natural language processing tool was built right into the editorial workflow so that It can analyse every article as it is written and pass on key information to the adserver – enabling intelligent placement selections and optimisation. Check out further details here.

The company also secured third place in the “Best Brand Awareness Campaign” category with the “Your Hong Kong – Your SCMP Campaign”, which has gained a strong, emotional and purpose-driven connection with Hong Kong readers.

SCMP also received an honorable mention in the “Best Execution of Native Advertising” category with the “Holiday at Home: Hong Kong Tourism Board” project. With social-distancing rules in place, Morning Studio – the company’s dedicated brand content team – created a series of stories in various media formats, which focused on the distinctive areas that make Hong Kong one of the world’s greatest cities. The aim of the project was to encourage Hongkongers to explore their home city and rediscover many of its lesser-known delights. Learn more about the campaign here.
