South China Morning Post (SCMP)  is proud to announce the launch of SCMP Compass – a sophisticated first-party integrated content platform designed to be a faster, more intelligent way for users to directly source SCMP’s 117 year collection of content they need via a single destination.   In addition, SCMP Compass for the first time ever, will include the full archived content of The China Mail, an English newspaper published in Hong Kong from 1845 to 1974.

Digitising a Century of History with SCMP Compass

SCMP Compass, designed and produced by the SCMP Technology team, is built to make content discovery quicker and easier while improving user’s content acquisition efficiency and enabling them with the necessary tools to access the information in all formats faster than ever before.

By bringing historical perspectives alive through the infusion of today’s digital and data technology, SCMP Compass is a powerful, comprehensive and fully searchable content platform covering the South China Morning Post Historical Archives (1903-2001), along with the China Mail Historical Archives (1845-1974).  SCMP Compass delivers the historical record of not only Hong Kong, but of China’s development and the growth of Asia. Every article, advertisement, classifieds, and market listing is searchable -- shown both individually and in the context of the full page and issue of the day.

This new dynamic platform provides access to a richer library of content with more flexibility.  SCMP’s large collection of archival content: articles, photos, videos, infographics and political cartoons, and podcasts will help organisations shape opinions and stand above their competitors. Commercial license of SCMP Compass can provide essential content to complete your research, investigations, and content strategies needs, all accessible through one location and at your fingertips. Businesses, organizations, and even governmental institutions can now acquire much more information about China and Hong Kong than ever before.
